New Code Adoption 6/30/2026:

  • As of June 30th, The City of Pueblo and Socobd is planning to adopt the 2021 International Energy Code (IECC) without modifications and the Colorado Model Electric and Solar Ready Code
  • This is in response to a requirement of the State of Colorado.
  • The department currently is on the 2021 IECC with some modifications. Those amendments will be removed.
  • More information regarding the Colorado Model Electric and Solar Ready Code can be found here: Colorado building-energy-codes-toolkit
  • By adopting the above codes, we are not adopting the Model Low Energy and Carbon Code (MLECC) at this time

License Renewals 2026
License renewal period ends 5/31/2026. If you do not renew your license by then, you will have to submit a new application.

SOCOBD Commission Meeting
The next regular meeting of the SOCOBD Commission will be held on Wednesday, June 17th at 7:00am at 830 N Main St, Pueblo CO 81003 and via Zoom meeting .

Existing functions you are used to are available on the new site. The new site also contains additional features to make your experience as simple as possible.
In addition, additional new features will continue to be added during June and July. The goal is to make doing business with the both the Department and our partners simple, fast, and smooth.

Pueblo County Permitting
Effective 01/01/2026, Pueblo County took over for Building Department functions in unincorporated areas of Pueblo County, including Pueblo West and Colorado City.
If you are needing services or looking for additional information for areas not within the City of Pueblo or Town of Boone, please visit Pueblo County Building

Please plan ahead, especially following hailstorms, roofing inspections may be around 5-7 days out.

Our front counter is open to the public 7:30am-4:30pm. Online services are available 24/7
If you need to come to the office to visit with an inspector, please plan on being here between 7:30 & 8:30 in the morning or by appointment.
All registered contractors and home owner permits may put in inspection requests 24/7 on our website.
Most documents can be sent in electronically, please contact our office via phone or email permits@socobd.com for additional information. It is easy to do business without coming into our office. Most everything can be done online our through electronic means. We can also schedule a 'face to face' meeting via Zoom.
